About Me…

Hiya! I’m Emily, the owner of Gourmet-ish! I was born and raised in Kansas City, and besides living in New York for 3 years, I’ve spent my entire life in the KC metro area. After I graduated from K-State, I was a probation and parole officer for 7 years (yes, I have some wild stories! lol). In 2010, I took a leap of faith and moved to Long Island, New York…… for love. I first realized my passion for cooking after meeting my (now) husband. I loved thinking of new, yummy meals that would impress him! After 15 years, I still try hard to impress him but it’s a little more difficult these days because I’ve spoiled him!:)

In 2018, I randomly posted a cute picture of my dog, Champ, laying on a cookbook while I was making my grocery list. A friend joked that she’d love it if I helped her with her meals……and so I did! From that moment, my wheels started spinning and I have slowly turned Gourmet-ish into a legit catering company. While working full time at a law firm, I’ve worked weekends meal prepping for a small group of loyal customers whenever I had the opportunity. Gradually, I started getting requests for catering services and, welp, here we are!

When I heard there was an incubator kitchen being built up the street from me, I knew this was the opportunity (and nudge) I needed to grow Gourmet-ish. So, I am taking another leap of faith in hopes of creating a brand that everyone loves!

One of my absolute favorite things in this world is making people happy with my cooking!
